Small Town Story is about two families in a small Texas town dealing with the controversy over a high school production of Rent.
Scott and his Dad Larry have grown further and further apart because of the town’s debate over Rent and Larry’s loss of trust in his son. Scott stands up to defend his fellow students and the show. At the end of the song – and the act – he leaves his father.
